JOAH'S FIRST BASKET!!!

Joah's first basket of the season.  He is so little he hasn't been able to get it to the rim, but with Mom and Dad's practicing with him he MADE IT!!!  Check out how he gets back on defense and then the fist pump.  That's our boy!!  Love it!!!

THE HEART OF A VOLUNTEER

Jason, Tony Jones & Steve Forbes coaching their hearts out

The VOLS certainly have had their ups and downs this season.  They looked like champions at the beginning of the season going 7-0, but then all of a sudden everything seemed to start unraveling.  They lost games they should have won and just didn't look like the same team.  Yesterday they played the Vanderbilt Commodores ~ (a big rival, not quite as big as the Kentucky Wildcats but none the less big)!  Keep in mind the assistant coaches are the ones in charge since Coach Pearl is serving an eight game suspension.  A lot of stress has been on their shoulders, and I can see it in my son's face.  The first half of the game was the WORST half of basketball I have ever witnessed.  The VOLS could not do anything right and had absolutely no offense.  It was hard to watch!!  They were down by 17 at one point but then Skylar McBee came in and gave us the spark we needed by hitting 2 threes and then he was fouled while shooting another 3 and went to the free throw line and made all 3 (my kind of ballplayer, ah the days of me yelling at my own kids while at the free throw line to C O N C E N T R A T E)!!!!  We were down by 10 at the a half but we at least had some momentum going into halftime.

The second half began and we were a totally different team.  We executed on offense and played awesome defense!  Brian Williams our center had a phenomenal game for him.  He is capable but you never know which Brian will show up.  The VOLS went on to win VOLS - 67 Vandy - 64.  The VOLS certainly did show the "HEART OF A VOLUNTEER!!!

HEADED TO GREELEY COLORADO

Well, another Shay son is on the move.  Zach has accepted the position of Defensive Coordinator at Northern Colorado University in Greeley Colorado.  They are in the Big Sky conference.  They are a Division 1-AA school.  He is very excited about the move and we are too.  We love Colorado so it will be another nice place to visit.  GO BEARS!!!!

A VERY BLESSED CHRISTMAS 2010

We were so blessed to have all three of our boys and their families home for this Christmas.  A great time was had by all!!!  And my grandchildren just made the holiday.  The excitement on their faces and the precious questions they asked regarding the man in the red suit with the white beard.
Jason brought Peija and Joah over on Sunday (Jana was sick with a bad cold).  We had bought a Wii for our house and Joah played that thing for 3 straight hours non-stop!!!  They have a Wii at home but apparently he never gets enough of it.  Peija loves drawing so she spent most of her afternoon doing that and tormenting her Dad which she REALLY loves doing (he likes it too even though he puts on a big show for her like he doesn't like it).  It was just a nice day spending time with Jason and the kids and Zach.  Beau and Jen were at her Mom's for the day.

Here are some random pictures of our Christmas.  The Savory family came over Christmas Eve night to celebrate the holiday with us.
